Ecuador y Corea del Sur, en nueva ronda de negociaciones con miras a firmar acuerdo comercial en primer trimestre del 2023

Empezó la VIII ronda de negociaciones del Acuerdo Estratégico de Cooperación Económica entre Ecuador y Corea, en el marco del cumplimiento de 60 años de relaciones diplomáticas. Los equipos técnicos se reunirán en Quito del 21 al 25 de noviembre del 2022.

Corea es un importante mercado para las exportaciones no petroleras del Ecuador, ubicándose en el puesto 30 del ranking global, siendo camarón el principal producto enviado. Actualmente las negociaciones tienen un avance de más del 50 %, aseguró el ministro Julio José Prado.

La negociación de Ecuador con Corea inició en 2015 estuvo parada por 6 años y en cinco rondas tuvo avance menor al 6 %. Se retomó a inicios del 2022 y ahora Ecuador entra a la octava ronda presencial con un avance del 50 %”. Ecuador y Corea del Sur avanzan en las negociaciones para cerrar el Acuerdo Estratégico de Cooperación Económica entre Ecuador y Corea. Este instrumento comercial a Ecuador le abrirá las puertas a un mercado de 50 millones de habitantes, que en 2020 representó la novena potencia importadora del mundo. Además, permitirá diversificar la oferta exportable y fortalecer la complementariedad de ambas naciones.

De los 30 principales productos exportados por Ecuador a Corea, 25 pagan aranceles, por lo que suscribir un acuerdo comercial entre ambos países permitirá el ingreso de la oferta exportable ecuatoriana con ventajas competitivas y, en consecuencia, acrecentar el potencial de exportación de productos tradicionales y no tradicionales ecuatorianos al mercado surcoreano, aprovechando la complementariedad de las economías.
