Kazajistán es el tercer comprador de flores de Ecuador.

EE.UU., Holanda y Kazajistán fueron los tres principales compradores de flores ecuatorianas en el primer trimestre de 2022. Por lo que este período, Kazajistán escaló cinco posiciones, y llegó al tercer lugar de los compradores de este producto ecuatoriano, con USD 34 millones. En los primeros seis meses de 2021, el monto vendido a ese país fue de USD 11,5 millones; se registra un incremento anual del 196%. La principal flor exportada es la rosa. Hasta 2021, en los tres primeros lugares estaban EE.UU. Rusia y Holanda. Kazajistán era octavo.

Sin embargo, expertos en comercio exterior coinciden en que una de las razones para que se registre este incremento en exportaciones a Kazajistán es la guerra Rusia-Ucrania, que empezó en febrero pasado y ha modificado a los mercados.
A raíz del conflicto, EE.UU. y la Unión Europea impusieron sanciones económicas a Rusia, que complicaron el comercio hacia ese país. Hasta ese entonces, el mercado ruso era uno de los principales destinos de la flor ecuatoriana. Por ello los productores ecuatorianos se vieron obligados a buscar otros países de destino, señaló Teodoro Benavides, director de Comercio Exterior de la Cámara de Comercio de Quito. En este primer semestre se observa una disminución en la compra de flores en el mercado ruso. Frente a eso, el sector florícola tuvo que encontrar nuevos destinos para la producción, que ya tenía en almacenamiento, y encontró una alternativa en Kazajistán”.
